Anna Mendez is the Chief Credit Officer & Senior Vice President of Lending for Wescom Credit Union, where she oversees the consumer lending department, real estate department, and the collections department. Mendez also serves as the Chief Credit Officer for the organization. Wescom, a Pasadena-based financial cooperative serving more than 300,000 members throughout Southern California, has a field of membership that includes everyone who lives or works in the seven counties from Santa Barbara to San Diego.
Wescom, with $3.0 billion in assets and 42 branches, is one of the largest credit unions in the nation. Wescom’s commitment to the delivery of unparalleled member service has enabled it to achieve double-digit growth rates in assets, loans and membership.
Through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Wescom provides brokerage services, financial planning and property and causality insurance to not only Wescom members, but also members of other participating credit unions. In addition, Wescom provides correspondent services and back-office processing to other credit unions.
Over the years, Mendez has been responsible for secondary marketing, real estate lending, consumer lending, commercial lending, business services, collections, and credit risk management for various firms. In 2001, Mendez served as the President of the San Diego Mortgage Bankers Association. She also sat on the Advisory Council Board for the FNMA and FHLMC, and the Residential and Commercial Advisory Council Board for the University of San Diego.
Mendez holds a degree in Finance and Economics from the Department of Business Administration at the University of South Florida. She also holds a Certificate in Advanced Leadership Practices from San Diego State University.
